Artist's Comments

I was inspired by some of the photographic works of *mjranum like this one (link) , and thought it might be cool to try it in 3D. It just seemed to make sense. :)

Download it for a larger version.

To view this image:

All you have to do is cross your eyes while looking at the image to bring the sides together. It helps if you are level with and a couple of feet from your screen. It also helps if you hold your hands in front of your eyes a couple of inches apart and about 6-8 inches from your face. This blocks your eyes from seeing the image meant for the other eye.

Your right eye should see the image on the left and your left eye should see the image on the right.

Rendered in DAZ Studio using a camera setup I came up with for this image to keep the perspectives correct. Victoria 4 and her Bikini, Hair and the Tree House in the background are all from DAZ.

That's clever!! The image is really dark on my screen, FYI. But I like the 3d 3d idea. Hmmmm... Many possibilities there!

Very nice! Excellent work with the light and shadows; it really adds to the realism when you try to see it in 3D.

The render itself is great. I especially like the way the lighting is set up. I haven't seen anything like the 3D effect on here before; it's very realistic. Nice job

Thanks! It is supposed to be a bit dark, that's kind of the look I was going for. I did it on an iMac with an LCD screen. LCD's are usually much brighter than CRT monitors because of the more linear contrast curves. It is a problem I have run into before. My next render will be a brighter one.

Thanks. I stared at it all day as I rendered and re-rendered to get the effect I wanted. I had quite a headache when I was done.

Thanks. It was actually surprisingly easy. All I did was to make 2 cameras that were set up identically. One offset to the left, and one to the right. Then I made a small cube and placed it between them and made the cube their parent as a position control. Then I made a small sphere in front of the cameras and set the cameras to point at the sphere. Then I made the cube it's parent. Moving the cameras is done by moving the cube. Aiming the cameras is done by moving the sphere. Place the sphere on the front of the main focal point of the image, then make it invisible. Make sure the cube and sphere are set to not cast shadows, then render once for each camera. The image from the left camera goes on the right and the image for the right camera goes on the left.

If you try it, I would like to see the results.
